AIMS of FESTIVAL MARIBOR

OBJECTIVES of FESTIVAL MARIBOR

  • Orientation towards a regional, national and international audience .
  • Creating opportunities for interaction between a broad and diverse spectrum of musicians who participate in a variety of chamber music groups as well as in the Festival Orchestra.
  • Audience development, rich out and hands-on experience for audiences.
  • Reflecting international culture to local audiences and to audiences from the rest of the world.
  • Offering an international showcase for Slovenian culture.
  • Encouraging community development by developing cultural tourism.
  • Demand for quality in music and reaching out to artists, media, audiences, sponsors, friends, patrons and partners in the best possible way.
  • Collaborating with other arts and festival organisations while encouraging public participation.
  • Ensuring that the Festival has adequate core funding in order to fulfil its aims and retain its sustainability.

 

FESTIVAL MARIBOR IN NUMBERS

Over the course of the last 6 years the Festival Maribor hosted 1.230 artists from 36 countries from all over the world. Every artist mentioned above  spent approximately 8 days in Maribor and took part in 5 different projects. 

The main program has been visited by 53,000 guests in the last six years, while there were 100.000 visitors at the complimentary concerts. 1.160 of them came from abroad and spend at least one night in Maribor. 

The main program consisted of  119 concerts in own-production with chamber and orchestral ensembles brought together solely for the purpose of the Maribor Festival. All in all 916 orchestral, vocal and chamber pieces of music have been performed – 151 Slovenian debut performances and 43 European or world premieres. Nine orchestral compositions have been commissioned by the Festival Maribor itself.
