Danger! Fall hazard.

10.06.2015

When Joseph Tawadros, the oud virtuoso known for his witty sense of humor and impeccable sense for fashion won an Aria award in 2012 he collected the pointy, triangular sculpture saying: “The industry is finally trusting an Arab with a sharp object.”

Three years and an “Aria hat trick” later, there are now three “sharp-objects” in his extensive collection of awards, which clearly makes him even more dangerous! No, don’t get us wrong, not in the terrorist kind of way! (Seriously: can one even try to imagine a terrorist sporting designer shoes, waxed moustache and bowler hat?!). His dangerousness is of another kind, yet no less lethal: his virtuosity, his passion, his boundless energy and trance-inducing playing can easily make you fall. In love! With oud!

Before you say you’re not in danger as you are “not into ethnic music“, let us serve you another Tawadros’ quote, only this time it is going to be a (very) serious one: "The oud is not ‘ethnic’. It is not ‘Arabic’. It is not a broken guitar or a funny looking banjo but rather an instrument that holds its own and has something to say in any musical or emotional context."

What better proof of this as our Four Season concert (September 10th) featuring the most famous baroque masterpiece? West and East, baroque and Arabic, oud and violin, Tawadros and Tognetti… An intense, breathtaking, mesmerizing, out of this world (non-terrorist!) attack on our (musical) prejudices and an once in a lifetime chance to just let yourself go and (free)fall. Into a trance.

PS: Craving a “100% pure” Joseph Tawadros experience? Do not miss his solo concert on September 9th in Minoriti Church. (Warning: Danger! Highly addictive!)

See you soon!
